  1. Within my talk I shared the approach that I take to deliver successful content marketing campaigns that can be easily scaled, don't break the bank and have an extremely positive effect on your search engine visibility, social media and email marketing campaigns. There's also a short case study that shows a practical application of the technique in action.

Overall, the conference was a huge success and I'd strongly recommend checking out their upcoming events (they're free, by the way!) as they offer some seriously valuable insights for marketers and businesses alike.

  2. According to a blog post of Email Delivered there is a “heated debate inside marketing circles” about what’s the best option when it comes to focusing your marketing efforts: social media or email marketing.

Although I had promised myself not to rant (well) anymore I can’t help but beg you to please refrain from this way of thinking. If there’s a heated debate going on inside marketing circles about these questions, I’m very happy that it’s not a debate in my marketing circles.

  3. Two contrasting things happened in my world this week: I installed multiple analytics packages in a client’s website so we will get more insight into consumer behavior, and I started reading the Steve Jobs biography in which he basically says he’s not concerned with what customers want or say. These two ideas are seemingly diametrically opposed until you put more context around them.

  4. According to eMarketer, 48 percent of marketers decided to increase their budget for influencer marketing in 2017. And only four percent had plans to decrease their budget.
If you’re thinking of running an influencer marketing campaign, it can be a little daunting:
    - How to do I discover the right influencers?
    - What’s the best way to reach out to influencers?
    - What does success look like?
We’d love to help you answer these questions and more…

  6. With so much user data, how does Pandora apply that to better user experiences? It asks people what they like, taking insights from its 50,000-person Soundboard.

To say Pandora has a lot of data would be like saying the Atlantic Ocean is a little damp. Every day, Pandora collects more than 1 billion data sets, which it sorts through with a sophisticated ad-tech stack and a team of data scientists, as well as the Soundboard.

  7. This prominence of data (and analytics) is also present in the RAMI 4.0 reference architecture of Industry 4.0 as mentioned in an article on industrial data and obviously in the broader perspective of digital transformation, its goals and the various technologies that enable it, from IoT (Internet of Things) to artificial intelligence and more. What does all this have to do with the Industrial Data Space, the topic of this article? A lot. Think data exchanges, smart services and new ecosystems of innovation and different business models. But there is more....

  8. We’re almost halfway through the year, and just beginning to enter what’s sometimes called the “summer lull”: that sleepy period during July and August where people go away on holiday and everything’s a bit quiet.

Most ‘digital marketing ideas’ or ‘digital marketing strategy’ pieces tend to be written and published at the beginning of the year, when everything’s new and fresh and marketers are full of enthusiasm. Come June, the shine might be wearing off a bit, your strategy losing steam or not seeming as innovative and full of possibilities as it did in January.
But with six months still to go, you need to find a way to keep the momentum going for the second half of the year. What can you do?
In this article I’ll look at six ideas on the cutting edge of digital marketing that can help to reinvigorate your brand. Some of them are quite simple, while others require a bit more implementation and planning; but all of them are sure to liven up your strategy and give your brand a competitive advantage going into the autumn.

  9. Many businesses use search engine optimization tools to improve the ranking of their website in search results. These tools can include incorporating meta-tags (or website keywords) in the source data for the website. Search engines (such as Google) use meta-tags to identify which search results to display when a user conducts a search. The Full Federal Court has recently confirmed that the use of a meta-tag may constitute trade mark infringement as, although meta-tags are not actually displayed on a website, the source data of a website is visible to those who know what to look for.

The case of Accor Australia & New Zealand Hospitality involved a property development in Cairns called "Harbour Lights". Apartment owners in the "Harbour Lights" complex who wish to let their apartments are free to choose Accor or another letting agent to manage this for them, or they can arrange the letting themselves. Only Accor, however, is able to operate its business on-site which means it can offer benefits to guests such as on-site reception and on-site luggage storage. Liv Pty Ltd trades under the name "Cairns Luxury Apartments" and offers accommodation services in the "Harbour Lights" complex in competition with Accor.

  10. Slack today introduced shared channels, a way for companies to create ongoing joint chatrooms to do business together. The feature, which will be available to paid users of Slack, can now be accessed through an open beta program. If it succeeds, it could build a powerful network of companies that rival communication apps will struggle to displace.

The idea behind shared channels is to let companies that interact frequently have a central place to discuss common business. A tech company might open a shared channel with its advertising agency, for example, or a manufacturer might create one for the contractor that handles its returns. Other good candidates for a shared channel include outside legal counsel and food and beverage vendors, Slack executives told me. “We think of shared channels as the most important thing we’ve launched since Slack itself,” says April Underwood, vice president of product at Slack. “They’re fundamentally a new way of working.”
