  1. As marketers, we are often rewarded for our creative thinking to differentiate the brands we represent. No one can forget Nike’s Just Do It campaign. Or the Cali Milk Processor Board’s Got Milk? campaign. However, as data becomes increasingly important to a successful marketing strategy, many data tools leave little room for creativity in exploring data and asking imperfect questions to get new insights. As a result, many marketers feel the need to temper creativity and become more left-brain driven – essentially becoming data scientists and operating within rigid pre-defined models that result in canned insights.

  2. QR codes never really took off in the West. I had nothing against them, just their implementation (on a creative and a technical level). However, I wanted one at the weekend so I could leave feedback about a store visit.

    Buying turf
I bought some turf at the weekend. After checking out, the cashier pointed to the bottom of my receipt and encouraged me to leave feedback for the chance to win a prize. To leave my feedback I had to visit a URL. Without even looking at what the URL was, I figured I couldn't be bothered leaving feedback.

    Why was that?

  3. Online ratings and reviews can offer valuable insights into what customers are really thinking. But what happens when that feedback isn’t the whole story? However, there’s actually hope in the “silent majority,” and it starts with bridging the gap between timely customer feedback and the brick-and-mortar shopping journey.

  4. The following is a short extract from our book, Researching UX: Analytics, written by Luke Hay. It’s the ultimate guide to using analytics for improved user experience. SitePoint Premium members get access with their membership, or you can buy a copy in stores worldwide.

To understand why your users behave the way they do, you first need to get to know them. You may make assumptions about who those users are, but you should be constantly challenging those assumptions, or at least be backing them up with facts...

  5. Good or bad — customer feedback promises to make its mark on your top line.

Rave reviews can help attract new customers and even keep existing ones coming back for more. Nearly 90% of Americans trust online reviews to help them choose between local businesses. Meanwhile, negative reviews help highlight ways to improve the customer shopping experience. Or, at least they should.

  6. E-mail marketers got another boost for deliverability recently when Yahoo Mail announced that Return Path will handle its feedback loops for managing spam complaints.

This helps you as a commercial e-mail sender, because a good portion of your mailing list likely goes to yahoo.com domains, even if you mail primarily B2B (define). Up to one quarter of a typical consumer list could be Yahoo-bound. Having this new feedback loop in place means you can manage and process spam complaints coming from Yahoo Mail users that you might not have gotten previously. Once your feedback loop request is accepted, you will receive e-mail that Yahoo recipients marked as spam at the e-mail address you specify. Remove those complaining addresses promptly from your database.

  9. Mopinion’s platform has undergone several changes in order to meet the requirements of GDPR. Among these changes is the modification of our visual feedback feature. Visual feedback allows Mopinion users to take an even closer look at how visitors experience their websites and mobile apps. The nature of this feedback, however, also presents some privacy risks (such as feedback screenshots that contain personal data) which must be mitigated completely. Mopinion has carefully and delicately reviewed all aspects of its visual feedback feature and added several powerful data masking options for protecting privacy-sensitive data.
