  1. Brands in the digital world are owned by employees and customers. They now look for experiences, not processes. When you go to the bank to open an account, the ease and simplicity with which it happens to create the experience. The processes that support the creation of the experience are invisible to the customer/ consumer. That is for the bank to manage. The seamless manner in which experiences are designed depends on the seamless manner in which processes can flow seamlessly between departments.

  2. There are many reasons why companies don’t succeed, but one important reason is not analyzing customer feedback correctly, and hence making bad decisions. How do you know what your customers like or dislike about your product or service? Isn’t it valuable data for you? Of course it is.

  4. If you’re familiar with the Gartner Hype Cycle, you’re probably familiar with the “peak of inflated expectations” and the “trough of disillusionment” that are precursors to the “plateau of productivity” represented by emerging technologies. While Customer Experience (CX) is not a technology (although technology supporting CX is becoming more and more prevalent in Gartner’s hype cycle), you may be observing a similar CX evolution in your organization and in the market.

A new era of Customer Experience is upon us as CX moves steadily towards becoming a de facto strategic imperative for any organization seeking competitive differentiation and business growth in today’s marketplace. To provide some insight into the current state of the CX market, and provide a bellwether of how well organizations are actually able to quantify the impact of their CX initiatives as they seek to achieve competitive advantage, Customer Think just completed a new primary research study entitled “What Drives CX Success?” (sponsored by Verint).

  5. A strong customer experience is the best way for retailers to cultivate positive consumer opinion. While that may seem turnkey, consumers’ expectations are constantly rising; no longer can a brand provide the best customer experience within their industry – the experience must transcend through verticals and be the best ever, period. Omnichannel retailers – those that have both an online and offline component – are uniquely positioned to reach consumers wherever and however they prefer to be met: be it in-store, via an app or on a desktop.

  6. If Walker’s report ‘Customers 2020: A Progress Report’ is to be believed, customer experience will be the key brand differentiator over price and product by the year 2020.

If that be so, you as a business owner will need to improve the customer experience of people buying your product or service. Positive customer experience will make your customers keep coming back for more.

  7. Looking at customer experience (CX) and churn in the SaaS environment from a high level, there’s one theme that stands out from the mix: The fact that we live in what’s called a “switching economy.”

The term, coined by economists, describes a current trend impacting switching brands because of dissatisfaction with their experience. It can be a major driver of customer churn—and it’s already creating an incredible economic deficit in the US.

  8. Alpharooms is one of the UK’s leading websites for discount hotels and flights, offering deals to over 220,000 properties around the world. Online travel bookings has largely become a commoditised marketplace that relies heavily on paid acquisition. Therefore price becomes a major factor in winning business – but in a market this big, no one can win on price all the time. Consequently, businesses need to generate value outside price and deliver a superior customer experience if they want to win market share.

  9. Small businesses are losing ground to larger corporations – not in employment, but in revenues. When the Census was taken in 2001, businesses with fewer than 500 employees contributed more than half of GDP (50.5%). However, only nine years later, that contribution had reduced to 44.5%, giving large corporations a 55.6% share.

What is causing this inequality, and is there something we can do about it?

  10. Many years ago I ran the support organization for a small software company. We had a whiteboard on the wall opposite the area of the office where my team sat. Everyone walking to the break room could see it. It showed the number of customer calls or emails we had each week, how many support tickets were still open, and how many we had resolved.

Above it sat another sign that said, “We are not a black hole.”
