  1. What Acton doesn’t mention in his modest post is that he was a co-founder of WhatsApp, not just a regular staffer. And as such, he’s worth an estimated $6.6 billion, thanks to Mark Zuckerberg’s historic purchase of WhatsApp in 2014. He’s already donated shares valued at hundreds of millions of dollars to community issues, and this Facebook post marks a more direct step out of the business world and into the nonprofit universe....

  2. The Australian Government is asking industry for final feedback on a framework of standards for the development of an opt-in national digital identity. The framework is part of the Digital Transformation Agency’s (DTA) Govpass digital identity project, which aims to make the process of proving who you are to government services online simple, safe and secure.

The framework is currently in a private beta phase. It sets out the policies and requirements — including privacy, security, risk and fraud management along with standards for usability and accessibility — which will build a nationally consistent approach to online identity. The framework also establishes best practice for the public and private sectors.

  3. Feedback is the nexus between user needs and product development. But gathering and using it effectively doesn’t come easily; it’s one of the trickiest things to get right. Users are fickle, often misguided about what they want, and will give feedback you’ll want to build for but should completely ignore. This is a tough racket.

Like any business challenge, great execution is a composite of focusing on the right things while filtering out noise. By getting in the right state of mind when talking to customers, you can avoid missteps and use feedback to its full potential....

  4. In a previous article, we introduced three different ways in which you can collect mobile feedback (in-app): Webviews, APIs and SDKs. We explained that each of these methods have their own strengths and weaknesses. From implementation requirements to technical know-how and from internet limitations to performance (once implemented), we just about covered it all. However, now we want to take an even closer look at one method in particular, which happens to be very much on the rise especially in the area of Analytics: mobile SDKs.

  5. YOU'VE BEEN THERE: browsing on a slightly backwater website, crossing your fingers as you click what looks like a video's play button. Instead of the TV show you had queued up, a million pop-ups spew out. The page you were on morphs into a Caribbean timeshare ad. It's the sort of misdirection that Google aptly calls an "unwanted behavior." And on Wednesday, the company's Chrome browser team announced a series of fixes that attempt to block these sketchy shenanigans.

Chrome already has a pop-up blocker, and a tool to control autoplaying videos. But the new features will take these user controls a step further. Beginning in Chrome 64, which is currently in developer preview, the browser will block third-party media components (HTML modules known as "iframes" that are often used to display things like ads) from triggering redirects unless you directly click on them.

  6. A few years ago I attended an event, organized by our partner BT Global Services. When talking about digital transformation, back then a relatively new term, several CIOs reminded how they always had transformed, illustrating their statements with state-of-the-art projects across a broad range of business functions, processes and technologies of the SMAC stack such as cloud computing (a major area for BT Global Services).

It needs to be said that the average CIO attending the event worked for a large enterprise, the typical customers of BT Global Services. Now that digital (business) transformation has become a broadly adopted and – admittedly – often somewhat misunderstood term, what are CIOs thinking about digital transformation? Isn’t it just a matter of a few CIOs or projects anymore? How does it impact them?

  7. Solving the problem of capturing and analyzing "dark data" is the business problem of the century, especially for CMOs who are increasingly accountable for generating revenue and improving business outcomes.

What is dark data? It's the unstructured data that's all over social networks, and it's full of valuable insights you can put to work to generate revenue and improve the way your business operates. But it's highly likely you're not using it—yet.

  8. Beware of the HiPPO in the room. When a HiPPO (highest paid person’s opinion) is in play, your organization is most likely not relying on data to inform decision-making. In fact, I believe the HiPPO effect is one of the biggest barriers to more evidence-based and data-driven decision-making. With the quantity and quality of data available today, it is just poor business for organizations to ignore data in favor of making decisions solely based on what the HiPPO wants done...

  9. Apart from organisation-designed content, digital learning platforms such as Skills Alpha provide access to numerous external channels of learning and also nurture networked learning and user generated content.

Corporations have been relying on Learning Management Systems (LMS) to faciliate learning and address the challenges of distance, time and cost factors....

  10. Feedback on social media can serve as a valuable source of information for companies, helping them to improve and develop products and services. Examples include Gillette, which launched the very first product for assisted shaving based on feedback inferred from social media, and Tesla, which improved the company’s app based in part on CEO Elon Musk’s reading a customer’s complaints on Twitter. At end of 2016, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky asked on Twitter what the company could launch in 2017. Anecdotes aside, does this user feedback actually help create better products?
