  7. With so much behavioral data out there, what’s the use in pestering the customer to ask for insight? PMs are afraid to contact their customers through email, NPS surveys, or in-app messaging, too worried they’ll annoy users, or get skewed data since only their happiest or unhappiest customers will respond. Asking your users for feedback sounds like a great way to give the customer a seat at the table.

  8. It could be the best work you’ve ever created, but when you show it to your team or client, they don’t quite have the same opinion. That’s the added challenge to design work. Even in a room full of veteran designers, context, experience, and opinions will differ because design is subjective. Before your career is over, no doubt you’ll have a moment where you look at a pile of feedback and think, “I should have gone into accounting, where there’s only one answer.”

  9. It takes a lot for a new customer to become a customer these days.

Very few customers discover a company, find a product they need, and decide to purchase all in the same day -- instead, they take many steps, over the course of days, weeks, or even months to make a purchase and start using a product.

The complex process of winning over customers requires strategy and commitment. That's why sales and marketing funnels and buyer's journeys were created -- to divide and conquer each little step that goes into converting a potential customer into a returning one.

  10. Voice of the Customer (VoC) programmes are intended to capture the opinions and preferences of all customers, analyse those insights, and use them to create meaningful changes in customer experience (CX). Having a VoC programme in place has become increasingly more popular and essential, especially as more and more businesses (nearly 72% to be precise) continue to place CX as their top priority.
