A lot has changed in the 30-plus years since author Donald A. Norman aired that grievance in his seminal 1988 text The Design of Everyday Things. These days, the user is king and any product development team that prioritizes programmers desires over user experience (UX) wont be a working product team for very long.
But building an intuitive app or website that truly accommodates user needs and behaviors requires ample know-how: theres extensive user research and testing, then mocking up and wireframing designs based on that input, elevating those designs into high-fidelity prototypes and finally handing them off to developers as seamlessly as possible.
