  1. One of the primary complaints about millennial employees is that they often expect frequent promotion or raises, when they have not put in the work to earn them. While many see this as entitled, it’s important to unpack where this tendency comes from. According to a recent Addison Group survey, 82% of millennials expect a promotion and/or raise at least every other year. Clearly this is a trend that cannot be ignored, as most young adults desire it. Today, it’s necessary for employers to incorporate some way of measuring millennial employees that can be viewed instantly and give them a sense of where they stand.
Millennials have grown up with everything at their fingertips and instant feedback. Think about their exposure to video games and how instantaneous the feedback is in a game. There’s a running scoreboard, where one can always see where they stand and know if they will win, lose, or move to the next level. It’s no surprise then that young employees are looking for frequent feedback, a scoreboard on their progress, and a road map to where they are headed.

  2. Research on everyone from millennials to senior citizens shows how learning is tied to happiness. So those who prioritize picking up new skills (shout out to those learning CX right now!) or just enjoy learning in general, tend to be happier, more satisfied people.

  3. A few years ago, if you were a small business looking to grow, you would have been at a disadvantage when it came to technology-enabled transformation, due to high costs and limited options. Today, the story is completely different. With the rise of cloud-based SaaS applications, technologies that were reserved for businesses with big budgets are now available to small and medium businesses (SMBs) at a fraction of the cost. This makes digital technologies far more accessible and scalable for SMBs. In addition, capabilities available through these applications have also increased exponentially.

Let’s look at some of the ways in which small businesses can use digital technologies to their advantage.

  4. Successful mid-size service firms, those with $3 million to $30 million in revenue and 15 to 150 staff, often grow by way of referrals. These referrals come from clients, partners, networks and associations. While referrals still work and have always worked, are they the best way or the only way to grow a mid-size service firm? Do CPA, law, technology consulting, management consulting, financial service and AEC firms have to rely on referrals as the primary source of new clients? Is this all there is today? I think not.

Digital disruption is real. Over the last 10 years or so, there has been an explosion of digital devices, tools, apps, communication networks and social media properties. This is creating an ecosystem of prospective clients who could be a great fit for your firm. But can all of this new technology really help you acquire new clients?

  5. Other generations think that millennials are entitled teenagers who want everything instantly. However, businesses, in particular, need to change that perspective. Millennials are powerful especially in the world of social media. They are also now the largest consumer in the world with approximately $200 billion annual revenue.

    Satisfying Millennials With Social Media

In this age and technology, it is important for companies to note that social media is changing how the world of business works. According to Microsoft’s 2016 State of Global Customer Service report, 64 percent of millennials think that social media is a very effective way to solve customer problems. It is no doubt, therefore, that 52 percent of the said generation uses this platform in looking for solutions to their queries.

  6. Over the last 15 years, I have led hundreds of workshops to equip managers and leaders at all levels with the skills to have more effective feedback conversations. In my experience working with these leaders, I find that most feedback conversations either don’t happen or don’t happen well . While the frameworks I share in these workshops provide a useful structure with which to prepare for and conduct even the most difficult conversation, they are only half of the equation in getting leaders to step up when it comes to giving improvement feedback. Most leaders won’t improve at giving feedback for the sole reason that they do not address the adaptive component required for their own behavior change — that is, they don’t tend to address the limiting mindsets, beliefs and assumptions that cause them to avoid having difficult feedback conversations in the first place.

  7. The ecommerce industry has experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the past decade. Having jumped from 3.5% of all retail sales in 2008 to nearly 11.9% in 2018, this growth – in combination with a (still) relatively low market share – represents a huge opportunity for more innovative ecommerce companies looking to overtake their traditional counterparts.

However, in order to latch on to the ‘growth train’, these same ecommerce companies (and therefore, ecommerce managers) are going to have to put their best foot forward. In other words, they’ll need to be sure that they are providing a first-rate online customer experience. And the best way to do this is to start listening to the voice of the customer. After all, your customers can be your best resource in terms of understanding what you’re doing wrong (or right!) on your website or mobile app. So allow me to introduce you to online feedback…

  8. It’s easy to stray away from putting customer’s as your first priority and get caught up in the other aspects of the business. But at the end of the day, without putting your customer at the center of your decisions, it could impact your ability to grow. address » street » city »

  9. If you’ve ever worked in the service industry I’m sure the chant “the customer is always right” still rings in your head. Customer service and the customer journey are not new concepts. However, the medium that customer service is carried out through today is new. With the eruption and growth of the internet over the past 20 years – the entire customer journey has been rewritten – no matter how long you’ve been in business or what industry you’re in. As the way we do business evolved, the customer experience evolved with it. But why has it been so difficult for businesses to transition?

  10. Nobody likes performance reviews. It’s definitely not easy to hear about one’s shortcomings. But for Robert Pasin, the chief wagon officer of Radio Flyer, feedback is essential for continuous growth and improvement. It can be both transformative and redemptive. That’s why he calls it “the breakfast of champions.” His company, Radio Flyer, the maker of the original little red wagon, tricycles, scooters and other ride-ons, has been privately held and family-run since 1917. How do you stay in business for a century? How do you bring smiles to children and families around the world, and create warm memories that last a lifetime?
