  4. How the advancements in several third platform technologies, innovation accelerators and other technologies – and their convergence – drive next generation applications and why and where it matters. For years many of us have been paying attention to the ways that several technological realities such as IoT, big data and artificial intelligence (AI) are impacting organizations across numerous industries, applications and areas.

When we looked at the several technologies in the SMAC stack (social, mobile, analytics and cloud) or IDC’s core 3rd platform technologies we looked at them separately but also in their combinations and interlinked value as they powered new next generation applications. It seemed pretty obvious that cloud services, big data/analytics, mobility (mobile devices, apps and broadband) and social (business) were fully intertwined ever since we started writing about that third platform, which IDC presented back in 2011.

  6. When evaluating the effectiveness of our content marketing efforts, one of the most difficult metrics to pin down can be lifetime value. When you’re talking about a blog post in particular, which can lack the “stickiness” of infographics, charts or webinars, estimating life cycle gets even trickier.

For years, the industry rule of thumb has been that most blog posts have a life cycle of approximately 30 days. What methodology led to this 30-day theory? Was it just a random guess based on some marketer’s gut feeling or anecdotal observations? Who knows. Our Florida neighbors to the south, IZEA, recently commissioned a study to scientifically measure just what the lifetime value of a blog post really is. With the help of the Halverson Group, 62,863 blog posts were gathered, of which 500 were randomly sampled. When tracking the performance of these posts over time, the Halverson Group made three very interesting discoveries.

  7. The cloud in its second decade – what cloud computing is and what you should know to make smart cloud decisions. A cloud computing primer with cloud definitions, cloud advantages, cloud myths and the cloud in practice and evolution.

Cloud computing, also called the cloud, is a key given in many current and future evolutions. The cloud plays an essential role in the technological stack which enables digital transformation and is even the main delivery model in digital transformation projects. Cloud computing is also one of the essential enablers of Industry 4.0, has been shaping the software and business applications market for over a decade and has an important place in the development of the Internet of Things or IoT, to give just a few examples. In fact, a lot of the technological enablers, innovations and ‘disruptive’ newcomers in areas such as Fintech (financial technology) and the sharing economy, which we have seen popping up in recent years, simply aren’t possible without the cloud. However, cloud computing and the various strategic, deployment, technological and business aspects of the cloud are less known than is sometimes assumed......

  8. What’s the role of artificial intelligence in content marketing? How can we leverage the Internet of Things in content marketing? In which way can we better use (big) data and automation to personalize more, ideally in real-time? What about VR and AR? And even: how will technologies soon enable us to automatically create content?

The less technology-oriented content marketing experts explain which channels and formats are poised to grow: print is back, video and visual are key, short is the way to go (or longreads are better), mobile is a must and even email is back (from never having been away).

  9. We’re almost halfway through the year, and just beginning to enter what’s sometimes called the “summer lull”: that sleepy period during July and August where people go away on holiday and everything’s a bit quiet.

Most ‘digital marketing ideas’ or ‘digital marketing strategy’ pieces tend to be written and published at the beginning of the year, when everything’s new and fresh and marketers are full of enthusiasm. Come June, the shine might be wearing off a bit, your strategy losing steam or not seeming as innovative and full of possibilities as it did in January.
But with six months still to go, you need to find a way to keep the momentum going for the second half of the year. What can you do?
In this article I’ll look at six ideas on the cutting edge of digital marketing that can help to reinvigorate your brand. Some of them are quite simple, while others require a bit more implementation and planning; but all of them are sure to liven up your strategy and give your brand a competitive advantage going into the autumn.

  10. Many businesses use search engine optimization tools to improve the ranking of their website in search results. These tools can include incorporating meta-tags (or website keywords) in the source data for the website. Search engines (such as Google) use meta-tags to identify which search results to display when a user conducts a search. The Full Federal Court has recently confirmed that the use of a meta-tag may constitute trade mark infringement as, although meta-tags are not actually displayed on a website, the source data of a website is visible to those who know what to look for.

The case of Accor Australia & New Zealand Hospitality involved a property development in Cairns called "Harbour Lights". Apartment owners in the "Harbour Lights" complex who wish to let their apartments are free to choose Accor or another letting agent to manage this for them, or they can arrange the letting themselves. Only Accor, however, is able to operate its business on-site which means it can offer benefits to guests such as on-site reception and on-site luggage storage. Liv Pty Ltd trades under the name "Cairns Luxury Apartments" and offers accommodation services in the "Harbour Lights" complex in competition with Accor.
